This is the newest technique to get quality backlinks to your site. These days people like to share their interests in social bookmarking sites. But it is not so easy as it sounds - you have to write really good article, or news or something very very interesting to get your article on first page of these sites.

Website Promotion Advice

February 2nd, 2009

If you want huge amounts of targeted new visitors to your site, read on and
I’ll tell you my secret.

I have spent endless hours trying to promote my sites through articles, link
building, and other seo techniques. None of it has brought me traffic like the
method I’m going to share with you. Since I figured this out, I’ve
managed to increase my traffic by 1000%, and it has been targeted and quality
traffic.

So, this is how I do it:

When I create a new site, I put something interesting on the first page -
something that is FUN, or extremely interesting. Don’t even bother trying
this technique until you’ve found an interesting gimmick to put on your
opening page. For my most recent website about hip hop music, I created a program
with Macromedia Flash (an animation program). It’s quirky and fun enough
for people to want to “spread the word”.

Once you have something cool on your first page, it’s time to let the
world know. What I do is post it at linkfilter.net. Once you register with linkfilter.net,
they allow you to post as many sites as you like. You’ll want to make
a really catchy heading for your post, so that lots of people read it. Make
sure you have categorized it correctly so that your visitors are targeted. Generally,
you will get around 150 visitors from this initial post, but that’s not
really what you’re after….

I have discovered that Linkfilter.net is used as a reference by people who
have “interesting link” sites or blogs. These “interesting
link” sites simply link to cool and unusual blog articles and/or web pages
for their visitors to see. Some of these sights get HUGE amounts of traffic
(check out boingboing.net – with 87,843,115 hits so far this month, a
link from them is golden).

If you’re page is catchy enough, you can count on getting links from
as many as a hundred sites like boingboing.com within 24 hours.

As soon as you have finished posting at linkfilter.net, do the following:

#1) Bookmark your site at del.icio.us.com and stumbleupon.com - These are
“search engine” type sites that work through social bookmarking
instead of algorithm based ranking like Google. Create a membership on these
sites and bookmark your site, again making sure you have a catchy phrase in
your post, you’re trying to catch peoples’ attention. Del.icio.us.com
is probably the most desirable of these sights, but stumblupon has given one
of my sites over 30,000 visitors in less than a month. If you have a technology
based site, another good one is digg.com.

#2) Get some friends or colleagues to post and bookmark your site at around
the same time as you do so you get more exposure.

#3) Submit your site to boingboing.net. Boingboing allows you to submit your
site for consideration. Most of the other “link” sites seem to enjoy
finding you on their own.

In case I’ve lost you, here’s an explanation of where your traffic
will be coming from. You’re initial traffic will come from your post at
linkfilter.net (probably around 150 visitors). From here you will hope that
“link” websites will find you and post links to your site (there
is no limit to how much traffic this can generate). The last source of traffic
is from social bookmarking sites (again, limitless traffic).

Remember, this all hinges on the “interestingness” of your home
page. My sites usually have a catchy flash program on the first page. Who knows
what will work for yours. Go to boingboing, del.icio.us, and stumbleupon to
see what the “popular” sites have in common.

(sleep and relaxation advice) and http://www.hip-hop-machine.com
(hip hop music and more).

Website Promotion Extremely Effective

February 2nd, 2009

There is tremendous power in writing your own articles. Let me briefly explain
this for you if you are not already aware. Let’s say that you have a website
promoting one or many different products. You could have the best website and
the best products available today but you know as well as I do that that doesn’t
mean a thing if no one sees that website. So instead of going out and joining
thousands of safelists and posting to tons of FFA pages, which are just a couple
of methods many still use today with very little or no success, I want you to
try a different method.

Lets say your website sales a product for people who play golf. For this example,
lets pretend it’s some new type of golf club to improve your swing. You can
develop what the top 5% of internet marketers create and that is called a “pre-sell”
page. It can be a personal recommendation for using the product giving examples
of how it worked for you and you might want to include a little history about
yourself like how long you have played the sport and things you have tried in
the past etc. etc… Build a little bit of a rapport with the prospective customer.
Let them begin to get to know you and trust you. But never ever make it sound
like you are selling something and do not mention a price.

You might try including a link casually within your conversation which will
actually be a link to your website. Your customers will be much more inclined
to buy from you since they didn’t feel like you were trying to “sale” them.
You may have mentioned something in your story that they could relate to.

Now once this page is set up, you will want to start writing your articles.
I would recommend 10-20 a day if you can. Go through your website and start
picking out keywords that you feel someone would try to search for. Build your
articles on those keywords. So a keyword could be “Golf Swing”. You will want
that in the beginning of your title (this will help in the search engine rankings
and also to be picked by others who will want to publish your article). Your
title could be Golf Swing Tips or Golf Swing Improvement, something to that
effect.

Make sure you continue to use your keywords throughout your article but do
not overdo it.

I have personally been using these techniques among a couple others to see
a difference in my website traffic and my sales.

To learn more about this technique and others that Olivia has been using very

How to increase Page Rank

February 2nd, 2009

There are many theories, facts and fiction bandied about the internet in articles,
blogs and spam mail relating to Page Rank. It is every website owner’s
goal to reach the top of the mountain. The more visibility of a website, the
greater the exposure which should lead to higher traffic.

There is a sleuth of professionals that peddle their books, services or tools
promising to provide top ten exposure on popular search engines like Google,
Yahoo, Msn and others.. Some promise virtually immediate success. Others offer
long term contracts to continually tweak and customize their services for maximum
benefit. Many of these offerings, but not all, can be considered a complete
waste of time. If something sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be
true!

Be warned, do not attempt to use deceptive or manipulative techniques to gain
higher ranking. Techniques used to circumvent the general guidelines of good
web design are definitely ill advised. Major search engines such as Google will
actually ban certain sites from their index if they deem certain websites are
attempting to cheat the system.

There are definitely a number of things that you can do to make a website search
engine friendly. In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites
by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages. It
is definitely more prestigious and productive to have a number of sites with
relevant information and high page rank link to your site.

Link exchange programs are usually ineffective and often a detriment to the
overall goal of gaining more respect from the search engines. If your site sells
shoes, it would not be advisable to exchange link with an online poker site.
Conversely, it would be favorable to get links to your site posted by shoe manufacturers.
If you use a link exchange program, you must be very selective with your link
partners.

Make use of the robots.txt file on your web server. This file tells crawlers
which directories can or cannot be crawled. It is very important to properly
configure your robots.txt file. If you have sensitive content that should not
be shared with search engines, you must tell the search engine robots not to
search such folders. You should test whether your pages will be indexed using
your robots.txt configuration. This can be accomplished using Google’s
own webmaster tools at http://www.google.com/webmasters/.

Database driven websites are of infinite value because of their flexibility.
However you should make sure that your content can be exported to flat files
that can be easily indexed by search engines. You cannot assume that a search
engine spider will select options like a human user to traverse a website.

One of the best practices is to make sure that your TITLE tags clearly reflect
the content of your page. Do not make your title tags attractive to search engines
but lack any cohesion with your content. Fancy features such as JavaScript,
cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash may prevent search engine spiders
from crawling your entire site. Be careful not to create bottlenecks by leave
broken links in your content.

Some search engines have clear rules against the use of hidden text, clever
redirects, cloaking, irrelevant keywords or duplicate content. Do not attempt
to add something to your site that is intended solely to increase your ranking.
It may lead to some short term results but could get you banished.

A thoughtfully designed website with a proper hierarchy, a good site map and
links to sub-sections from the main page will be favorably indexed. The best
way to maintain and increase website credibility is ethical design and management.
You could save yourself hundreds or thousands of dollars by sticking to the
rules of the game. There are no major shortcuts that have not been plugged by
search engine algorithm updates.

Well Ranking for Search Engines

February 2nd, 2009

Anyone who has a website knows the importance of attracting visitors to that
site. No matter how professional a site you have and no matter how good the content
on your site is, you simply can’t be successful online until you have managed
to find a way to bring in large numbers of relevant visitors to your sites. That
is why it is important to learn how to properly optimize your site for the search
engines. Because ranking well in the search engines is one of the best ways of
driving masses of targeted visitors to your site each and every day. Here, then,
are the 7 essential steps to ranking well in the search engines.

1. Only worry about the major search engines

There are basically only 3 search engines that you need to worry about – Google,
Yahoo, and MSN. Collectively these 3 search engines make up the vast majority
of search traffic online each and every day. Oftentimes, even when you don’t think
you are using one of these search engines you actually are. For instance, Google
provides search results for sites such as AOL and Yahoo provides search results
for sites such as Altavista. At the end of the day, if someone is searching for
something online, chances are they are searching at either Google, Yahoo or MSN.

2. Make sure that the search engines can “read” your site

Many times a site is programmed is such a way so as to make it difficult or impossible
for the search engine “spiders” (the programs that the search engines use to analyze
and organize the information found on websites). If the search engines can’t process
your website then you will not rank in the search engines at all, period! Therefore,
it is essential that you (or your programmer) build a search engine friendly website.

3. Find the keywords that your customers use to search for your products and services

Right now there are people searching for your products and services online. Your
goal is to find out what terms and phrases they use when searching for your products
and services. Those are the exact terms and phrases that you want to optimize
your site for. After all, what better time to turn up in the search engine results
then when your customers are actively looking for the products and services that
you sell!

4. Create specialized, focused web pages for your keywords

Once you have a list of relevant keywords, you will want to create pages on your
site specifically for those phrases. Each of these pages should target only a
small number of keywords (1 – 2 being ideal). You will then want to optimize this
page for those keywords. This involves writing relevant content which uses your
keyword phrases a number of times within the text of your webpage. This content
should be of the highest quality as possible. This will both help with your search
engine rankings as well as customer satisfaction, both of which are crucial to
online success! In addition to writing good content, there are other important
places to “put” your keyword phrases. To learn where those places our, visit our
web page optimization tutorial at

.

5. Get lots of high quality, incoming links

This point can’t be emphasized enough. At the end of the day, high rankings come
by getting other sites to link to your specialized, keyword-rich web pages. What’s
more you want to make sure that those links come from topically related, popular
sites. There are many ways to do this such as participating in blogs and forums,
writing press releases, submitting your site to special directories and more.
It is crucial that you learn all the various techniques involved in creating high-quality
incoming links. To do so visit our link building strategies tutorial at
http://www.sembasics.com/sem-guides/basic-link-building-strategy
.

6. Track and improve upon your results

Most people don’t want to take the time to analyze the results of their optimization
campaign. Not only is this a tremendous mistake, it is also a great opportunity
(for you). If you take the time to properly track how you optimization efforts
are going and constantly work to improve upon your result you will be able to
leave most of your competition far behind. At the end of the day, high rankings
in the search engine are the result of learning how to fine tune your particular
site to the particular keywords that you want to rank well for. General principles
and theories are just that, general, that don’t relate to you, your products,
your customers, your website, or your rankings.

7. Stay up-to-date

It is crucial to understand that what works today may not work tomorrow (and what
worked yesterday may very well be obsolete today). The search engines are constantly
changing their algorithms and you need to change along with them. If you don’t,
your success will be short lived. As such, you need to keep yourself informed
of the relevant changes that are taking place in the search engine. Here is a

Website Promotion Ideas and Tips

February 2nd, 2009

Many people lose out on increased web site traffic simply because they think
the web is an advanced TV. It is not too difficult to see why many Internet
marketers insist that the World Wide Web is an entertainment medium - a development
from TV. The typical person is more interested in the new offerings on the web
that can entertain and less excited in the details of the enhanced communications
capabilities this new phenomenon brings.

It is therefore not surprising to learn that the net is actually the first
activity in over 40 years that has been clearly documented as something that
succeeds in dragging people away from the TV and actually causes them to spend
less time watching the box. No wonder most people think of it as a substitute
for TV.

But this kind of thinking brings disastrous consequences, especially to those
seeking increased web site traffic. Even as you read this, entrepreneurs all
over the world continue to pump money into all sorts of advertising schemes
on the net, all of them designed to generate more traffic. This is fascinating
when you consider that the same people doing this, hate to be interrupted by
advertisements when they’re on the net (so why do they expect other folks to
be different?)

I find it much more useful to think of the net as an improvement on the telephone.
Then everything makes sense and any promotion aimed at increased traffic on
the web works like magic. And of course you then begin to understand just how
powerful promotional articles can be.

People hate interruptions on the phone from telemarketers. They prefer to call
and ask for whatever it is they want, whether it is information or actually
placing an order for a product or service. Being an improved telephone, the
net makes all this even easier. You start off by using a search engine or you
visit a web site and get all the information you want. You rarely look for information
in online advertisements.

So what better way to attract attention and increased web site traffic to your
offering than to provide useful, detailed articles packed with information and
leave them in places where they will easily be found by those who may want to
seek that kind f information which is directly related to your product? This
is a very effective proven way of using this improvement-on-the-telephone medium
to promote your business, and it works much better than advertising. For years
the telephone has been a valuable instrument for getting information. People
looking for information have frequently made a few calls to get the info that
they are looking for. The Internet “telephone” has made this operation
even more efficient because it enables you to “call on a few sites”
for the information you are looking for.

Understanding this simple truth about the web will not result in increased
traffic, it will in fact cause traffic to your site to explode.
